FAQs
Indexes are often the first point of reference for a reader. An index is a list of entries, comprised of relevant terms, concepts and names. They represent the most efficient route for finding specific information in a nonfiction book.
I compile indexes for nonfiction texts for both academic and trade publishers.
When producing your index, I will read your manuscript thoroughly to identify indexable terms, concepts and names. Indexing is an intellectual task, discerning what is significant information in a text, which can be easily missed by automated systems and AI programmes.
I complete indexes using Word, but can also use your or the publisher’s preferred software, if required.
Rate: £3.80 per indexable proof page.
